Happy Easter @ SFC Grade One
Easter is a holiday celebrated around the world every year in spring. The date is the Sunday after the first full moon following the Vernal (Spring) Equinox, so it changes every year depending on the cycle of the moon. Every country celebrates Easter differently, but all ideas are connected to life, fertility, and rebirth.
When most people think about Easter, they think about the Easter Bunny and chocolate Easter Eggs (rabbits and eggs are symbols of life and fertility).
This year at school, we combined a few traditions of Easter with our studies. To culminate our unit on living things, our students in SFC Grade 1 wrote English riddles about living and non-living things. The English teachers hid the riddles in plastic eggs and held an Easter Egg Hunt for the students. The students were able to enjoy traditional Easter activities and learn at the same time!
For each correct answer to a riddle, the students received a chocolate Easter Egg. We are happy to say, of course, that all of our clever students were able to answer their riddles and enjoy their Easter treat!
Happy Easter!
