打破“域”界,国际理解这么探究

“教育即生活,教育即唤醒,教育即创造,教育即尊重”。科外是一个拥有众多优秀中外教师的国际化学校,以“华夏根基,国际视野”为育人目标,拓宽学生对多元文化的理解,培养学生跨文化理解和交流能力。


在这里,教育可以打破学科的边界,跨学科融合;在这里,教育可以打破教材的边界,让世界成为我们的教科书;在这里,教育可以打破课堂的边界,把教室搬到大自然;在这里,教育可以打破传统班级授课制的壁垒,用House学院营造一个个学习社区。


        课堂教学是学生获取知识和技能的主要途径,课外学科活动则是学生全面发展的重要载体。苏科外小学外教团队在探究学生教育过程中不断打破“域”界,倡导让每一个孩子在不同的学科活动中发展语言技能、体验多元文化、享受成功乐趣,并力求让6C理念(creativity、cooperation、communication、confidence、caring、commitment)在活动中熠熠生辉。



打开阅读“域”场,在阳光下生长

[Autumn Reading Picnic]


五六年级的学生们带着他们的所学和最喜欢的一本英文读物到户外享受一顿愉快的野餐。在津津有味地开始阅读绘本之前,老师鼓励学生们互相询问有关他们在国内外的旅游经历。


Students in grades 5 and 6 were invited to bring their learning outdoors to enjoy a pleasant picnic lunch along with a good book. Before tucking into some delicious stories though, students were encouraged to ask each other questions relating to their experiences inside and outside of China.


在完成第一个主题后,孩子们继续展示和用英文介绍他们在旅行中购买的纪念品,这一环节对所有的参与者来说都是非常具有启发性的,同时也让孩子们更多地了解彼此和其他国家的地理、文化和民俗。


After finishing the first course of questions, students then moved on to present some souvenirs they had bought while on their travels. It was such an enlightening experience for all involved to learn more about their classmates and other countries at the same time!

最后,孩子们开始阅读他们带来的一本好书,并与同伴分享阅读的快乐。在明媚的阳光下,英文阅读的热情正在持续升温。


Finally, the children began to read a good book they had brought with them and were encouraged to share the pleasure of reading with their peers. Reading with your friends under the sunshine, is there anything better?

分享沟通“视”界,在表达中探究

[Joker's Day]


你开怀大笑了么?11月的第一天,科外所有小学生欢聚一堂开展他们的笑话日活动。我们的学生们穿着五彩缤纷的有趣服装,手里拿着自己准备好的笑话字条,眼睛里闪烁着光芒。


Did you all have a good laugh? On the first day of November, all students from Primary School got together to celebrate Joker's Day. Our students were bursting out of the seams of their colourful collection of funny costumes with their jokes in hand and sparkles in their eyes. 


活动开始后,他们自信地在走廊和教室里穿梭,与平日里不怎么来往的其他班级的同学面对面分享彼此的笑话。在活动过程中,孩子们可以将自己的三张贴纸奖励给最让他们开怀大笑的笑话的主人,最后,每个年级获得贴纸最多的五个笑话被贴在了离学校入口最近的笑话墙上,让每个经过的人都能来欣赏。


When the activity started, they were encouraged to walk around the corridors and classrooms to share their jokes with students they don’t usually interact with. Finally, armed with three stickers, students would award the top three jokes a sticker each! At the end, the five jokes from each grade with the most stickers were posted on our joke wall near the main entrance for everyone to enjoy.

Take a look at some of the jokes our students prepared for the day:


●One day, a teacher asked a student, “Why are you always late?” The student replied, “Because as I got to school, I read, ‘School, Go Slow’.”

●What are a thief’s three least favourite letters to hear when they are in the middle of a job? …I C U!

●“What is a fly doing in my soup?”, asked the customer. The waiter replied, “He is swimming, sir.”

●Which is faster, hot or cold? Hot is faster because you can catch a cold!

●What do you call a bear with no teeth? …A gummy bear!

通过这次活动,学生们增强了对第二语言的信心,同时也通过服装和笑话段子的写作发挥了他们的创造力。


Through this activity the students increased their confidence in their second language, and the students also developed their creativity through their costumes and joke writing.



创造合作“链”结,在游戏中滋养

[House Event]


11月中旬,强基1-4年级的传统活动——House Event正在如期开展中。孩子们穿着代表他们团队颜色的服装来到操场上做好活动准备,在外教老师们的指导下,他们畅玩了五大游戏:Body Spell、Word Soup、Steal the Card、 Tic-Tac-Toe、Red Light-Green Light.


SSFLS welcomed all SFC students from grades 1-4 to participate in a House Event in November. They dressed in their House team colors and went to the playground to get ready for the event. Under the guidance of the foreign teachers, they played five games : Body Spell, Word Soup, Steal the Card, Tic-Tac-Toe and Red Light-Green Light.

本次活动旨在通过与平日里不熟悉的其他班级的同学互动,以及玩各种游戏练习他们的第二语言,增加孩子们学习的丰富性。透过在游戏中合作,加强学生的团队凝聚力和团队精神,通过参与竞技游戏,在加强英语词汇能力的同时,提高学生的语言能力和社交能力。


This event is to increase the enrichment of the children’s learning through engaging and interacting with students whom they are not familiar with, as well as playing a variety of games practising their second language. It has helped to strengthen the students build team bonding skills and team spirit by working together to compete in games. By participating in competitive games whilst strengthening English vocabulary skills, the students will enhance their language and social skills.

It was fun reading on the soccer field. We shared the stories we had read and enjoyed answering the questions my friends had asked. I like the reading picnic the most!

I feel it's quite interesting because we all wear funny costumes. With all those jokes, everyone is so happy and I really like the atmosphere.

I always look forward to House Event every semester. I’m in Fire Team. We are the best! I’m very excited in this event. During this activity, I’ve learned how to cooperate with others and get along with them. Although sometimes I didn’t win the games, I absolutely enjoyed the activities.

外教团队在为孩子们量身打造的活动中,倾注着对孩子们的期待和祝福。


The foreign teachers’ team poured their expectations and blessed the children in the activities they had created for the children.


外教主管Ms Siobhan在组织Joker’s Day时提到她的感受:


Comedy is a way to bring people together and laughter is good for the soul. Through laughter, we can build stronger relationships with others, just like we do with language! In SSFLS, we hope our students can learn to communicate and build relationships with others in a variety of ways. In this way, they will be well-equipped for a happy life.


喜剧是一种把人们聚集在一起的方式,笑声对灵魂有好处。通过笑,我们可以与他人建立更牢固的关系,就像我们用语言一样!在苏科外,我们希望我们的学生能够学会以各种方式与他人交流和建立关系。这样,他们就会为幸福的生活做好准备。


        外教主管Ms Fay在组织House Event活动时的期待是:
