探究式教学,把课堂还给学生

教育不仅仅是知识的传递,更重要的是科学思维和方法的掌握,对于孩子们而言,探究式学习便是一种积极且科学的学习过程。他们通过自己发现问题、提出问题、寻找答案,从而获取知识和技能,将学习成长这一根本目的贯穿始终。

 Education is not just about the transfer of knowledge. What is more important is the mastery of scientific methods and way of thinking. For children, inquiry-based learning is a great illustration of an active and scientific learning process. They acquire knowledge and skills by finding problems, asking questions and looking for answers on their own. The fundamental purpose of learning and growth runs throughout.


在苏科外融合二部,全新的课程融入单元探究阅读项目助力学生们成为探究真知、知识渊博、积极进取的终身学习者。

In the Fusion Department Two, the new curriculum incorporates unit of inquiry and reading projects, empowering students to become inquisitive, knowledgeable, and motivated lifelong learners.

(JOKE DAY)


本学期起,融合二部在原有的PYP项目基础上,开启了六年级、七年级MYP项目,在项目主管Seema的带领下,高素质的专业教学团队将实现对孩子们提供全面和探究性教育的承诺。

学部以学生的学习和成长为主题,在英语语言艺术、科学、社会科学、数学、设计、音乐等全面的课程中拓展孩子们的兴趣爱好,最终实现他们自我成长的丰盈、知识视野的扩容、能力素养的提升。


We are thrilled to celebrate the grand opening of the Middle Years Programme for grades 6 and 7 at our school. This remarkable event showcased our commitment to providing a holistic and inquiry-based education. Led by our highly qualified and professional teaching team, headed by Ms. Seema, an educational expert, the opening event was filled with excitement and anticipation for the enriching educational journey ahead. We are proud to offer our students a comprehensive curriculum that includes English Language Arts, science, social sciences, math, design, music, and art. We have received our Candidacy Status. 在这个阶段的探究式学习之旅中,融合二部的孩子们对地球地貌进行了探索。他们研究了不同类型的地貌,包括山脉、山谷、河流和洞穴,甚至是人造的,通过视觉辅助和小组讨论,对这些地貌的形成过程及意义有了更深入的了解。在积极参与创造新地貌的基础上,孩子们的理解力得到提升,同时还激发了他们的创造力和解决问题的能力。

特别的是,老师还鼓励他们将单元的内容与他们项目中应用的工程原理联系起来,进一步提高他们的学习经验,真正做到“学以致用”。


In this educational journey, our students have embarked on an exciting exploration of Earth's landforms. They have delved into the diverse types of landforms, including mountains, valleys, rivers, and caves, and even man-made ones. Through visual aids and engaging discussions, they have gained a deeper understanding of the significance of these landforms and the processes that lead to their formation.

One of the highlights of this unit has been the students' active involvement in creating a base for new landforms. This hands-on experience has not only enriched their understanding but also sparked their creativity and problem-solving skills. They have been encouraged to make connections between the unit's content and the engineering principles applied in their projects, further enhancing their learning experience.

未来随着课程的推进,单元探究的知识性会越来越强,将把重点转移到塑造地球的自然力量上。学生们将探索地球的内部和外部力量,如火山活动、构造板块运动、风化和侵蚀,通过实验和案例研究,调查这些力量是如何随着时间的推移导致地貌变化的。

这一对地球的探索之旅,强调自我反思,元认知和理解学科的跨学科性质,帮助孩子们在课堂上培养自豪感和社区意识。在老师的肯定中,他们将带着探索的丰收与喜悦继续前行!


As we move forward, the focus of the unit will shift to the natural forces that shape the Earth. Students will explore Earth's internal and external forces, such as volcanic activity, tectonic plate movements, weathering, and erosion. Through experiments and case studies, they will investigate how these forces result in changes to landforms over time.

This unit aligns with the International Baccalaureate standards, emphasizing self-reflection, metacognition, and understanding the interdisciplinary nature of the subject matter. It is designed to foster a sense of pride and community in the classroom, recognizing and celebrating student accomplishments.

除了单元探究以外,学部还开设了新的阅读A-Z项目。该项目通过分级阅读为学生提供个性化学习模式。

每个学生的阅读需求和能力不同,阅读方法和速度也有所不同,阅读A-Z项目关注孩子们的差异化因素,为他们提供各自所需的阅读材料,进行全方位的阅读引导和定期评估,随着他们的成长和改变调整阅读模式,让阅读变成一件快乐的事。同时,老师们还鼓励孩子们在家阅读,并遵循协调发展的理念来培养学生全面的阅读技能,点燃每一位学生对阅读的热爱

        Introducing our new reading program at SSFLS Fusion 2, a game-changer for grades 1-7. It's personalized with differentiation, regular assessments, and a wide range of engaging reading materials from Reading A-Z. Harry, has shared a captivating glimpse into his journey with the newly launched Middle Years Programme Program. From navigating English-only classrooms to engaging in creative design projects, his immersion in a dynamic curriculum has propelled his English fluency and ignited his passion for learning. With subjects like Individuals and Societies and Design, Harry has delved into captivating topics, ranging from Chinese history to hands-on creativity, making his experience truly remarkable.

PYP and MYP of the Fusion Department Two are compatible with the mission of the school's "Broad knowledge for global citizens, enlightened wisdom for fulfilled lives", and consolidate the children's foundation of traditional Chinese culture and patriotism with the national compulsory curriculum standards. With the concept and framework of integrating transdisciplinary/interdisciplinary inquiry, children will be able to learn knowledge and create a new understanding of the world in a challenging and flexible approach, with a solid knowledge reserve, spirit of exploration, critical thinking, and innovative qualities, to face the ever-changing and wonderful world!
